The Minor Basilica San Antonio de Padua de Villa Devoto was born with the neighborhood at the time that the Real Estate Bank acquired from the Altube Family the lands of what is now Villa Devoto, presenting an urbanization project to the Municipality of the City in which it was contemplated building a church. The works were soon paralyzed due to the economic crisis of 1890. In 1913 Don Antonio Devoto acquired the property to continue with its construction, which was in charge of the architect of Austro-Hungarian origin Markovick. The interior decoration and painting is left to the artists Luis Boni and Dante Ortolani. When Devoto died in 1916, the construction was paralyzed and then continued slowly, until 1923, the year in which his second wife, Doña Elina Pombo died and again the works were suspended. Finally the parish is consecrated in 1928. On July 13, 1964 it is elevated to a minor basilica.
A fire in 1991 destroyed the original dome, the new dome of the temple was inaugurated on June 20, 1993.
The minor Basilica San Antonio de Padua is a religious temple of Roman Catholic worship dedicated to San Antonio de Padua on Av. Lincoln 3751 in the Villa Devoto neighborhood, in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
