The oldest antecedents of this construction date back to 1780, time in which this property that belonged to the Inza family, passed to the power of Don Fernando Errázuriz Aldunate, who was the first representative of Rancagua in the Congress of 1811. A year later It is acquired by the family of Don Andrés Baeza de Soto y Córdova. In 1842 the Sotomayor Baeza brothers installed the first secondary school in Rancagua, predecessor of the Liceo, which operated for a short time. In 1920 it began to be subdivided, until in 1946 it was acquired by Alejandro Flores Pinaud and his wife Carmen Moreno Jofré, who created in 1950, in the south wing of the house, the Museum of the Old Homeland. Two years later, the Directorate of Libraries, Archives and Museums (DIBAM) acquired the property and the collections. After being closed for many years and in a deplorable state, it was restored in 1995 by the Architecture Directorate of the Chilean Ministry of Public Works and opened to the public.

The Museum preserves around 1,800 pieces.

The Museum's collection is organized into different settings of a 19th century house, in which there is a desk, a living room, a dining room, a religious imagery room and a room from the time of Independence, with objects and documents from the Fathers of the Nation.
