Some places keep both the valuable past of La Antigua Guatemala such as the Palacio de los Capitanes and the Cathedral, also the former Convent of Santo Domingo today converted into an important museum and hotel in La Antigua Guatemala.

The monumental building, qualified as worthy of admiration only in the kingdom, also in Europe, was inaugurated in 1551 and occupied by the Order of Santo Domingo, characterized by being the home of religious leaders.

One of many buildings that suffered the earthquake of 1773 and was abandoned, and later used for various uses, including the headquarters of the Antonio Larrazábal National Institute for Men (INVAL), but the sample they took in the old convent of the stopped there, because He resorted to its walls to extract material that would be used for other constructions.

Over the years and due to the constant archaeological studies carried out in the place, it was the headquarters of an archaeological consultation center until 1998, where the PROTUNAC property will be closed, calling the hotel and the Casa Santo Domingo Cultural Center. .

Its facilities include the process of making wax and majolica ceramic pieces. It has rooms for exhibitions and galleries of works of art. You can also appreciate the crypt area and the representation of a model of a process under the Arch of Santa Catalina.

It is located at the entrance of Ciudad Colonial on 3rd Calle Oriente, known as Calle de Santo Domingo,
