The chapel was built at the exact location of the apparitions from April 28 to June 15, 1919. There the first Mass was celebrated on October 13, 1921.
The original chapel, although subject to slight repairs over the years, retains the features of a popular hermitage.
The pedestal, where the Image of Our Lady is located, marks the exact place where the small holm oak on which Our Lady appeared to the Shepherds on May 13, June, July, September and October 1917.
Located in Fátima Sanctuary, located in Cova da Iria, Fátima parish (Portugal), it is one of the most important Marian shrines in the World.
