Información general sobre DELHI
Delhi is a metropolitan region in India. With a population of 22 million in 2011, it is the world's second most populous city and the largest city in India in terms of area. The NCT and its urban region have been given the special status of National Capital Region (NCR) under the Constitution of India's 69th amendment act of 1991. The NCR includes the neighbouring cities of Alwar, Baghpat, Gurgaon, Sonepat, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida and other nearby towns, and has nearly 22.2 million residents.

A union territory, the political administration of the NCT of Delhi today more closely resembles that of a state of India, with its own legislature, high court and an executive council of ministers headed by a Chief Minister. New Delhi is jointly administered by the federal government of India and the local government of Delhi, and is the capital of the NCT of Delhi.

Delhi has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BC.Through most of its history, Delhi has served as a capital of various kingdoms and empires. It has been captured, ransacked and rebuilt several times, particularly during the medieval period, and the modern Delhi is a cluster of a number of cities spread across the metropolitan region. This is why Delhi is sometimes called the City of cities.

Turismo
Site of no fewer than eight successive cities, India's capital DELHI is the hub of the country, a buzzing international metropolis that draws people from across India and the globe. Home to 1.3 crore (thirteen million) people, it's big and it's growing. Yet tucked away inside Delhi's modern suburbs and developments lie tombs, temples and ruins that date back centuries; in some places, the remains of whole cities from the distant past nestle amid homes and highways built within the last two decades. The result is a city full of fascinating nooks and crannies, that you could happily spend weeks or months exploring.

As a place to hit India for the first time, Delhi isn't a bad choice. The city is used to foreigners: hotels in all price ranges cater specifically for foreign tourists, and you'll meet plenty of experienced fellow travellers who can give you tips and pointers. And there's certainly no shortage of things to see and do. Quite apart from its historical treasures, Delhi holds a host of museums and art treasures, cultural performances and crafts that showcase the country's diverse heritage. The city's growing nightlife scene boasts designer bars, chic cafés and decent clubs. Its auditoriums put on a wide range of national music and dance events, drawing India's rich classical traditions. Smart new cinemas screen the latest offerings from both Hollywood and Bollywood, while its theatres hold performances in Hindi and English. And if you're flying home from Delhi, you'll find that you can buy goods here from pretty much anywhere else in India, so it's a good place to stock up with souvenirs and presents to take back with you.

Gastronomia
There is no such thing as typical cuisines of Delhi. This is so because there is no specific identity of the city. With time, people from different areas of India came and settled, making Delhi an assortment of sorts. Slowly and gradually, Delhi assumed some of the aspects of the identity of all the types of people living in it, making multiple identities for itself. As a result, even the traditional food of New Delhi has no distinctiveness. It comprises of South Indian food, Punjabi food, Gujarati food, Rajasthani food and so on. However, there are certain food items for which Delhi is quite famous.

For example, Chandni Chowk area of the city boasts of the most delicious paranthas (a sort of bread). Infact, the entire area of Old Delhi is famous for the local Delhi cuisine. Then, there is the Bengali Market in New Delhi that is very popular for Chaat Papri, Golgappas, Sweets, etc. Delhi is also very popular for its roadside vendors that serve awesome local cuisine. However, before eating make sure that the place is neat, clean and hygienic. All said and done, one cannot fully explain the palatability of these dishes. You have to come to the capital city of Delhi and enjoy its mouth-watering delicacies yourself.
