It has recently been rebuilt, its design being quite architectural and very striking on the North Coast of the Country. A viewpoint stands out in the upper part of the boardwalk, from where you can see the entire landscape of its banks and the flowery valley of Tumbes, made up of banana plantations and rice-growing areas. They adorn the entire length of the boardwalk (900 meters), beautiful and modern concrete arches. The Malecón Benavides was built in 1933 to prevent the floods caused by the Tumbes River.
Located on the right bank of the Tumbes River, protecting the city from its mighty waters in the rainy months (January to April).
Currently it has changed its course from its original form. The Malecón Benavides is a very favorite place for tourists to admire and enjoy the beautiful natural landscape. It is an appropriate place for rest and meditation, especially to be able to admire the Tumbesian sunset.
