With about 250 square meters, the City Museum hosts exhibitions referring to the history of Praia Grande, an innovative concept in museology. For this, it has the testimony of the residents of the municipality, who participated in the construction of local identity. Interviews are available at the oral history booth via three 32-inch plasma-screen televisions equipped with DVDs and headphones.
In another terminal, four computers provide the history and curiosities about each neighborhood of the Municipality. Did you know that the Ocian Quarter, for example, which many think was baptized for its relationship to the sea, was actually named after the construction company that erected the first buildings in the area? Andraus Building and Development Organization (Ocian).
The City Museum also has four exhibition tables, which feature photographs and historical documents. Currently the collection of the Documentation and Memory Center of Praia Grande has more than 30,000 documents donated by residents of the city, allowing the exhibitions to be renewed frequently.
Other attractions are the graphic panels: One of them, 13 meters, displays aerial photo of the city. The second is for the exhibition of the natural heritage of Praia Grande, represented by dozens of photographic records of the stretch of Atlantic Forest and mangrove area that borders the Municipality.
Highlight the giant eyeglasses section, with images of tourists from past decades having fun on the sands of the Municipality.
