Built in 1842 as a fisherman’s cottage, The Old Shop provides en suite rooms with a TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. In the garden, it also offers accommodation for up to 4 in its centrally heated caravan, with a double bed, 2 single beds, shower room and kitchen facilities.
There is also a lounge with TV and a summerhouse where guests can relax. The Old Shop has direct access to the beach from its attractive garden.
A delicious full Scottish breakfast, made with top quality locally sourced produce, is served in the kitchen in the morning. Just along the road, The Steamboat Inn serves a wide range of food including Scottish specialities, with a characterful bar and beer garden looking out across the sea.
The Old Shop lies 20 miles east of Castle Douglas, a designated Food Town offering a wide choice of fine local produce in its shops and restaurants. The fishing town of Kirkcudbright has a number of art galleries just under 1 hour away, while nearby Dalbeattie provides the setting for exhilarating mountain-biking trails and the Bainloch Deer Park.
