It is a beach with large urban areas of golden sand, where bars offer everything you need to relax and unwind.

Atacames is the most visited resort in the province of Esmeraldas. It is part of the cantonal promontory and is a few kilometers from other attractive beaches such as Súa, Castelnuovo, San Carlos, Tonsura, Same, Tonchigüé and Galera, all fishing villages, calm waters, ideal for swimming, diving and surfing.



Located on the Pacific coast in the province of Esmeraldas, 38 km from the city of Esmeraldas and 350 km north of the capital, Quito. It is one of the main tourist destinations of Ecuador.



The tourist attraction of Atacames, besides its beaches, is due to the lush nature, and the richness of black folklore in its varied manifestations is added to gastronomy, where you can taste the most exquisite dishes of the sea, you can also taste the delicious, "coco loco ", typical drink made with coconut water and caipirinhas.



Atacames belongs to the life zone of the dry tropical forest, the beach is surrounded by coconut trees, there are hardly any ornamental species of trees and meadows: 300 meters away is the Atacames estuary, which preserves a mangrove swamp. You can also watch the seagulls flight.



In Atacames, there are numerous workshops where typical handicrafts are made with materials from the region and decorated with black and red coral obtained from the depths of the ocean.



Along the Atacames boardwalk you will find typical cabanas, music, dance and tropical drinks. You can rent chairs, hammocks, umbrellas and spend all the time sunbathing, enjoying the sea and just resting and forgetting the mundane noise.



Its nightlife is intense, not only used by emeralds, there is a mix of colors, races, languages, fashions, nationalities in search of fun, one of its natural resources is agriculture, especially coffee, cocoa, banana, among others.



Atacames and the surrounding area offer tourists wide swaths of gray sand beach, which provides a pleasant environment for water or sand sports, one of its main attractions is the observation of humpback whales during the summer months and the visit to forests and mangroves.
