Located on the hill of the same name, it was built in 1906. It first belonged to the Electric Tram Company that gave rise to the State Collective Transport Company. It is currently owned by the Municipality of Valparaíso. It is located between 5 and 35 meters above sea level. It has a rail length of 75 meters and a journey of 35 seconds. It connects Avenida España (plan) with Avenida Diego Portales (Cerro Barón),
This was the first elevator to be powered by an electric motor, which replaced the old water balance system.

There are several alternatives to get to Valparaíso:
By bus
The trip takes 1 hour 45 minutes from Santiago. Existing departures with a frequency of 15 minutes, the bus companies offer a good level of service and comfort.
By car
For those who wish to arrive by car from Santiago, they should take Route 68, the estimated travel time being 1 hour and 30 minutes.
It has a great urban value as it relates the plan to one of the viewpoints of greatest tourist interest in the eastern sector of the amphitheater. This viewpoint was historically part of the original road to Quillota, which linked Valparaíso with the Hacienda de las Siete Hermanas.
