Cabo de la Vela is a Colombian town, located on the Guajira peninsula, in the homonymous department. The cape is located in front of the Caribbean Sea, in a desert area. The region is populated mainly by the Wayúu indigenous people, the first inhabitants of the area. The Wayúu call Cape Jepirra and consider it a sacred place, since they believe that their souls go to that place after death.
