Dated from 1782 to 1787, it was built by João Rodrigues de Macedo, collector of the taxes of the Captaincy of Minas, who established housing and administration of his business there. He served for various purposes, including imprisonment for the unconfident. Today it houses the Gold Cycle Studies Center, the Currency and Treasury Museum and the Federal Revenue Agency of Ouro Preto, as well as a gallery.
