The Central Park is the most complete multifunctional infrastructure. More than a simple car park, it is an equipment that contributes to the urban planning and landscape of the whole central area of the county, offering various valences to the inhabitants of Maia.
The project, designed by architect Alfredo Ascenção, seeks the most correct insertion and articulation of this space in the strategic plan of requalification and modernization of the center of Maia, which has been developed by a vast team coordinated by the architect Eduardo Souto Moura. Forming, with Douro José Vieira de Carvalho Square and with the Sports Zone, a centralizing triangle of what is the new center of Maia, the Central Park was designed and elaborated in such a way as to achieve a perfect urbanistic insertion and irreprehensible aesthetic continuity with the globality of the surrounding space.

In the Central Park of Maia there are 21 stores that will meet all the needs of users of this equipment. A Tourist Office and a Cyber Café will complete this shopping area, which will also contribute to the dynamism of commerce throughout the surrounding area.
At the nascent end of the Park, a Restaurant and Tea Room with terrace are the main attractions.
Sport is also present in this park, as one of the buildings built in this space next to the restaurant and the terrace, is a sports center composed of two Squash courts and a Bodybuilding Room.
