It is a building from the 18th century, which
feature the exterior covered with tiles of Eduardo Leite, executed in 1929, by the Ceramic Factory Widow Lamego.
This tiles, covering about 360 square meters, depict scenes from the life of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Catherine, an Egyptian virgin of royal blood martyred on Mount Sinai.
Some of the scenes are, Santa Catarina with the sages of Alexandria, the victory of Santa Catarina announced by an angel, Christ loose of the Cross to embrace S. Francisco, or S. Francisco to be taken by the angels.
In addition to the tiles, the panel of the main altar, the panel of Joaquim Rafael, which represents the Ascension of the Lord, the stained glass of the facade and also the image of Our Lady of Souls, are important.
The Capela da Almas, or Capela de Santa Catarina, is located in Santo Ildefonso parish, Porto.
The simplicity of its lines almost did not show its great artistic beauty.
