PURPOSES AND PRINCIPLES OF THE CHIQUIÁN FOUNDATION
Fundación Chiquián is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help the cultural development of Chiquián and the province of Bolognesi.
Currently Fundación Chiquián is in charge of the operation of the Manuel Jesús González Guilleros Parish Library.
Fundación Chiquián publishes the website CHIQUIAN.COM in order to make known the cultural, economic and tourist potential of the province of Bolognesi, as well as to give opportunity to the commercial development of the province.
HISTORY OF THE CHIQUIÁN FOUNDATION
Fundación Chiquián was born in September 1999 as a product of the enthusiasm of a group of Chiquianos living in the United States. Antonio Garro, Eliades Zubieta, Hugo Durán, Armando Zarazú and Jorge Durán. Despite living in different cities of the American Union, they agree to try to help their people, more specifically their youth. Aware of the existence, at least theoretically, of the Manuel Jesús Gonzalez Guilleros Parish Library, they decided to take the necessary steps to put this cultural institution into operation in order for it to collaborate in the intellectual development of the studious youth of Chiqui.
The first year there were some logistical difficulties, which were overcome with the entry into the operational management of the library of professors Romeo Reyes and Alfonso Padilla Silva as librarians paid by Fundación Chiquián. Professor Romeo Reyes is currently in charge of the library.
In 2003 Fundación Chiquián sent three modern computers, equipped with all the necessary academic information, for the service of library users. For the installation of the computers and their respective programs, Fundación Chiquián hired and brought Chiquián to the systems engineer, Mr. César Chávez Cano. It is also necessary to mention that these computers were acquired thanks to the enthusiasm of Messrs. César Alva, Abrahan Machuca, Serapio Laureano, Richard Laureano, Hugo Durán, and Mrs. Ana Machuca, Betty Durán, and Sonia Andrade de Alva.
Fundación Chiquian publishes the website CHIQUIAN.COM whose objective is to make known the tourist potential of the province of Bolognesi, in addition to providing free email service with the name of Chiquián.
Currently Fundación Chiquián has as active members Hugo Durán, Betty Laureano de Durán, Armando Zarazú, Nora Jara de Zarazú, Mario Reyes Alzamora and Eduardo Martí, the latter resident in Peru and whose participation is essential for Fundación Chiquián to develop better their activities.
Fundación Chiquián calls on Chiquianos and Bolognese countrymen living abroad to be part of this project. There are a lot of brothers to do.
