The building of the Paços do Concelho (former College of the Holy Trinity) dates from the eighteenth century and was built by D. Maria Ferreira for the teaching of Latin and Moral, a task which, until its expulsion in 1759, Jesuits. During the French invasions the nuns of the Convent of the Loreto of Almeida took refuge here and during the war that followed, in 1809, was transformed into barracks, also serving as military hospital. After 1839 it served as premises for the District Court and the Public Court. As early as the twentieth century, in 1964, the building was the object of conservation and remodeling works, carefully preserving its architectural features, of which the main façade, with the national arms, in the center, stands out.

Perpetuating the names of the families of the college, on the left is the coat of arms of Figueiredos and on the right the Távoras. In the main lobby, two granite bas-reliefs can be seen: the one on the left represents the concession of the charter to the land; the right of the delivery of Monte Aljão, by D. Manuel, to the citizens of Gouveia. The magnificent interior courtyard is worth a visit.
