The magnificent countryside of the Quantock Hills provides wonderful scenery and a great variety of short and long walks of varying degrees of difficulty. The 99 km² Quantock Hills is a place of outstanding natural beauty and a landscape of contrasts, from the many sheltered wooded valleys with sparkling streams (like at Combe House) to the open moorland on the hilltops. The hills are a paradise for walkers, and you do not have to go far for a sensational view.
Drive through nearby Exmoor, with its beautiful villages, stunning countryside and picturesque Dunster, with its famous Yarn Market and Dunster Castle and Gardens. Take a train on the West Somerset Railway, which runs steam-hauled trains between Minehead and Bishops Lydeard. Go fishing in the reservoirs at Durleigh, Clatworthy or Hawkridge and on Exmoor at the large and very picturesque Wimbleball Reservoir, where you can also sail and picnic. There are also several golf courses nearby to suit all levels of skill.
