El Caño Archaeological Park is located in an area located in one of the Isthmus's regions, most favorable for a human settlement, supported by a productive agricultural basement. The region is near the Pacific, where you can find a dry and rainy season, considered benevolent for the community.

El Caño Archaeological Park is located southeast of the city of El Caño, Nata district, Coclé province; exactly 2 km. after passing through the temple in the community of El Caño.

The location of El Caño in the lower Rio Grande basin, in a lowland area with seasonal tropical climate, where rainfall is closely related to trade winds. From April to December, the rainy season occurs; From January to March, the season is dry, both very well marked. The seasons are clearly defined, but there are many factors that affect the rainfall regime in the different watersheds that, like Rio Grande, flow into the Gulf of Parita. This rainfall instability may have some influence on pre-Columbian agriculture and should be taken into consideration when studying the mechanisms of agricultural production and intercommunal belligerence in the Gulf of Parita, which are closely related to the history of El Caño, as it is a regional center of an agricultural society, it is known as cacicazgos.



El Caño Museum

The museum has a colonial style structure, inside shows objects of pre-Hispanic pottery and European pottery. It also presents a faunistic diagram representative of the region, maps, paintings and other data from the central region.



Cacique House

The biggest attraction of the park is the reproduction of a cacique's house. This house shows the modus-vivendi the conqueror encountered upon his arrival. The house is exposed with a perishable material such as straw, vines and wood; typical of the time. This allows visitors to appreciate the circular subdivisions of the house.
