A Igreja Matriz do Sagrado Coração de Jesus foi construída primeiramente entre 1884 e 1894, pelo Padre João de Santo Antônio. A nova construção, em estilo eclético, realizada em meados do século XX, guarda da formação inicial as torres frontais e a pia batismal em que foi batizado o escritor João Guimarães Rosa. Como em todas as igrejas construídas no período citado, situa-se em local elevado no centro de Cordisburgo, dando uma visão ampla do município. A igreja é aberta à visitação, e fica na Rua Frei Estevam, 350 – Bairro Centro.
