Sant Antoni de Portmany
Sant Antoni of Portmany is a town on the western coast of Ibiza. It is the second-largest town and municipality in Ibiza; an island described by Time Out magazine as "arguably the clubbing capital of the universe".
The town is situated on Sant Antoni Bay on the west coast of the island, part of the autonomous Spanish community of the Balearic Islands.
Tourism
The beautiful city of Sant Antoni de Portmany is located on the island of Ibiza which, together with Formentera, make up the Pitiusas archipelago. On the coast of Sant Antoni bay, this Balearic town has an interesting historic quarter and beautiful clear waters. The variety of accommodation and leisure activities offers one of the island's most attractive tourist destinations. Taking a leisurely stroll through coves and pine forests is an alternative that represents the other side of a city that is famous for its exciting nightlife.

The coast of Sant Antoni has numerous coves and beaches that emerge between rocks and pine forests. The crystal clear and calm waters are suitable for the little ones to swim as well as for diving. The rugged coastline has vast sands as well as beautiful hidden coves and even more remote coves. Some of these coves have all kinds of services available to visitors, while others are noteworthy precisely because they are peaceful and removed, while also enjoying stunning scenery.

Hiking, Routes and Trails
In addition to water sports, Sant Antoni offers the opportunity to experience the spectacular natural surroundings with a number of routes, such as those included in the Falcon routes. Ca'n Bernadet viewpoint, with stunning views of the bay, is an excellent goal. The sharp cliffs of Cap Nuno plunge into the sea near Salad Cove, a traditional fishing spot.

A relaxing day at the beach can end with a fabulous and lively night at any of the many leisure facilities. Along the streets of the city center, promenade and bay, several restaurants, terraces, bars and nightclubs await you. Some of the most elegant bars are located on the beach, such as the famous "Café del Mar", where you can see the most beautiful sunset of the whole island.

Cultural heritage

Sant Antoni de Portmany's origin dates back to prehistoric times, as evidenced by the many artifacts found in the area, such as bronze axes and early cave paintings. Named Portus Magnus by the Romans and Portumany by the Arabs, the city was forged as an urban center after the Reconquest by King Jaume I.
In the 14th century, the church of Sant Antoni was built and around it, the city began to emerge. The fortification of this church and most of the churches in Ibiza occurred in the 16th century to ward off pirate and corsair attacks. To secure its strategic position, the city erected a belt of great towers around itself and along the coast in the 17th century. Surrounded by impressive cliffs, stands the fortress of Towers d'en Lluc

Monuments that can be admired at different points in Sant Antoni.
Sant Antoni de Portmany is the second most populous city in Ibiza and brings together parishes of Santa Agnès de Corona, Sant Mateu d'Albarca and San Rafael de Forca. These are the locations of the area's religious temples. The Sant Antoni de Portmany Church dates back to the 14th century and is notable because of the polygonal plan of its tower. In Santa Agnes there is a well-preserved underground chapel built inside a basement. The church of Sant Rafael enjoys a wonderful view of the islands of Ibiza and Formentera. The church of Sant Mateu has a magnificent atrium with triple arch and chapels of wonderful proportions.
Gastronomy
In addition to the wide repertoire of international cuisine, Sant Antoni de Portmany prepares a delicious dish: ensalada pagesa (field salad). It consists of potato wedges with onion, roasted red peppers and eggplant. Among the fish, roasted grouper is excellent, as for dessert, "flaó", a cheesecake with egg and mint. All these dishes go very well with some wine labeled Designation of Origin - Binissalem-Mallorca.
Portinatx is a former fishing village and today is a great destination because of its beautiful steep coastline.
Weather
At the Balearics at holiday season lasts from April to October. May is the wettest month. June the sunniest. In the interior there is a continental climate. Visit this area in the spring, when it is pleasantly mild and the natural surroundings at their prettiest. In the summer it is hot (40 ° C). In the winter you can ski in the mountain areas.
