It takes its name from the date the railways were nationalized in Argentina, during the presidency of Juan Domingo Perón.
The square is limited by the streets Valdenegro, Pasaje Flor del Aire, Avenida Galván and Pasaje Quebracho).
Within this plaza there is a playground, a tennis court and a basketball court.

The Plaza 1 de Marzo de 1948 is located in the Saavedra neighborhood in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The square is located within the Presidente Roque Saenz Peña neighborhood, it becomes the main square of this ´´unofficial neighborhood´´ within the Saavedra neighborhood.
Being a reference square in this neighborhood, since the neighborhood extends around Valdenegro street, a street that runs along the entire side of the square.
In the basketball court of the Plaza, March 1, 1948, 2 current professional basketball players played in their day, as is the case of Lucas Picarelli (currently playing at Club de Regatas Corrientes) and Matías Novoa who played in several teams in Argentina. and from Spain but who is considering his retirement from basketball. although he previously played in the National Basketball League in Argentina.
