The Royal Customs Palace (Royal Customs Palace or Customs Palace), later known as the Old Courts Palace (or Old Courts Palace).
This place was awarded in 1555 to the first corridor of Santiago, Don Juan de Cuevas, who installed his house here. In 1635, at the same place where the palace is located, the San Francisco Javier Convictorio Colegio (later, Noble Convictor Carolino) of the Society of Jesus was built.
In the 18th century, Chilean Governor Luis Muñoz de Guzmán ordered the Royal Customs Palace of Santiago to be erected in the same place. Its construction was entrusted to the military engineer José María de Atero, who built it between 1805 and 1807.
After national independence, the property was occupied by the Chilean National Library and, from 1845, housed the Santiago courts - the Supreme Court remained there until 1915 - until 1968, the year a great fire destroyed its dependencies. it derives the name from "Old Courts".
It is located at 361-385 Bandera Street in Santiago.
In 1969 it was declared "Historical Monument of Chile".
In the 1980s, the building was rebuilt and restored, intended for use by the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art.
