Founded in 1890 by the English wine producers of Porto based in the city, the Oporto Golf Club is the oldest golf course in the Iberian Peninsula. Opened in 1934, it was the country's first 18-hole course, having been refurbished over the years by renowned architects Mackenzie Ross and Frank Pennink. Oporto Golf hosts some of the world's oldest golf tournaments, including the Skeffington, Dockery and Kendall Cups. In 2004, the course was extended and received a 6-hole pitch and putt course, primarily to encourage younger players. Situated in close proximity to the beautiful beaches of Espinho, this fabulous countryside links is only 20 minutes south of Porto.
