The province of Pacasmayo was created by law of November 23, 1864 and was born with six districts: San Pedro de Lloc, as the capital town; Guadalupe; Chepen; Jequetepeque; Party; Pacasmayo and Pueblo Nuevo. Later in 1984, when the province of Chepen was created, the districts of Chepen, Pachanga and Pueblo Nuevo, became part of this new province. Its capital is San Pedro de Lloc.
It is irrigated by the waters of the Jequetepeque river whose origin is Cajamarca which has a flow according to the seasons of the mountains. This river irrigates the coastal plantations, forming beautiful valleys where rice, sweet potato fruits, sugar cane, beans and many other fruits are grown.
The major productive activity is divided between agriculture, livestock and forestry, although many are dedicated to manufacturing and others work in mechanical workshops.
Tourist attractions:
Pacasmayo has interesting attractions for tourists, mainly due to the fact that it is a beautiful valley that forms in the Andes where the Jequetepeque River, the climate and time have been able to sculpt capricious mountains such as Chocofán with green valleys of rice crops, bananas and other plants. that refresh the atmosphere of this warm valley. However, one of the most important tourist places, especially for those interested in history and archeology, is the Pakatnamú Complex.
Pakatnamú, is 14 km from the city of Pacasmayo and is a monumental archaeological site, next to the Jequetepeque river valley, there are 50 truncated pyramids in addition to housing complexes, ramparts, walls with reliefs and various enclosures.
Church of San Pedro de Lloc. It is located in the Plaza de Armas in the city of San Pedro de Lloc. It was built in the second half of the 17th century. It has a main altarpiece in the Rococo style in which the carving of Saint Peter stands out.
The monument to the Virgin of Guadalupe built in 1967 on top of the Namul hill or "Cerrito de la Virgen" with 499 steps to reach the sphinx.
El Cañoncillo Forest. It is ideal for the practice of nature and adventure tourism and is located in the district of San Pedro de Lloc, on the left bank of the Jequetepeque River, which is part of the dry forest ecosystems of Peru. It contains dunes, gentle slopes and plains. In addition to its archaeological sites and its carob forests with trees up to 8 meters high, there are also three lakes which sprout from the subsoil.
On the sea side we have the Pacific beaches with old houses and beautiful women who delight in the bewitching song of the seagulls and the incessant whispering of the waves and from where we can appreciate the pier and the lighthouse that rises on the seashore. . It has waves and ideal winds for windsurfing.
In the Pacasmayo Spa, the port pier founded in 1775 by the Spanish conquerors and the Grace house from 1850 stand out. Its beaches are practiced for surfing and diving.
Finally, we want to highlight the beauty of its women, whose antecedent was reflected in 2001 with the coronation of Miss Peru Marina Mora who ranked third among the most beautiful women on the planet.
