Carvalho Monteiro, by the trait of the Italian architect Luigi Manini, gives the palace of 4 hectares, the palace, surrounded by luxuriant gardens, lakes, caves and enigmatic constructions, places that conceal alchemical meanings, such as those evoked by Freemasonry, cross. Models the space in mixed lines, evoking the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Manueline architecture.
Forest
The woods or woods that occupy most of the Quinta's space are not arranged by chance. Getting tidier and tidier in the lower part of the farm, but being progressively wilder until we reach the top. This arrangement reflects the belief in the primitivism of Carvalho Monteiro.
Porch of the Gods
The Porch of the Gods consists of 9 statues of the Greco-Roman gods. The classical mythology was one of the inspirations of Carvalho Monteiro for the gardens of Regaleira.
Initiatory Well
An underground gallery with a spiral staircase, supported by carved columns, where it descends to the bottom of the well. The staircase consists of nine steps separated by 15 steps each, invoking references to the Divine Comedy of Dante and that can represent the 9 circles of hell, of paradise, or of purgatory.
The well is said to be initiatory because it is believed to be used in rituals of initiation to Freemasonry and the explanation of the symbolism of the same nine levels is said to be found in the work Rosicrucian concept of the Cosmos.
It has been classified as Property of Public Interest since 2002.
