The Church of San Agustin, of colonial architecture, was finished in 1691, it is a beautiful temple built with polished granite stone and raised for 23 years by the Vicar of Torata, Bachiller Ambrosio Javier Galdámez y Corterreal, it was renovated by the Corporation from Moquegua from 1961 to 1965,

The patron saint of the town "San Agustín" without festivities every August 28 for many years, has instead given rise to a more fervent devotion to the Virgin of Candelaria or María Santísima de la Purificación, whose image copies that of the Virgin Copacabana , is celebrated with great solemnity every second of February, with striking customs demonstrations that have been transferred from generation to generation.
