Inaugurated in 1907, the Villaseca Elevator appears in the urban layout of the city as the end of the city in its southern sector of the Port of Valparaíso, and constitutes the gateway to the entire sector of the Playa Ancha hill.
Its image and urban presence account for the Valparaíso hill, because in the area where it is located, the city plan narrows and it is the hill that takes on greater importance.
One characteristic that makes this elevator somewhat different is that throughout the Taqueadero ascent, its plot is present, since the elevator becomes a lifeline that passes over the aforementioned street.
The lower station of the elevator is located on Antonio Varas street, and its presence is noticeable from the Plaza de la Aduana. It is a great cover where color takes on great importance in the furnishing context of the environment.

There are several alternatives to get to Valparaíso:
By bus
The trip takes 1 hour 45 minutes from Santiago. Existing departures with a frequency of 15 minutes, the bus companies offer a good level of service and comfort.
By car
For those who wish to arrive by car from Santiago, they should take Route 68, the estimated travel time being 1 hour and 30 minutes.
For its part, its upper station ends in the middle of the Playa Ancha hill, on Pedro León Gallo street, bordering the Camino Cintura already near its end and which runs through all the other hills of the city; at the same time that it stands out over the Taqueadero stream.
The station is constituted as a house that leaves the Camino de Cintura, reaching the housing sector itself, thus responding to the needs of the porteños who live on that hill. Architecturally it has a very Buenos Aires style, with several levels, simulating being one more house in the neighborhood.
